Montereau c.1810-20 |
An
early 19th.Century French, Montereau factory creamware
plate. Printed underglaze in black with 'L'ecolier Le
Pedant Et Le Maitre D'un Jardin'. ( The Schoolboy, the
Pedant and the Orchard Owner ). After a fable by Jean de La
Fontaine. |
Condition
Good, no
chips or cracks but quite a lot of glaze wear and utensil
scratches. Also a little staining.

pearlware plate, possibly made by Spode
Printed in underglaze blue with the 'Temple Landscape'
pattern. Unmarked. 25cm. diameter.

Condition Very Good,
a couple of small glaze flakes from the rim. No cracks or
restoration.

A Rare Robert Hamilton? Printed Pottery Plate.
c.1820 |
An
English pottery underglaze blue transfer printed plate dating
from the 1820's. Decorated with an attractive scene. The scene
has become known as 'Fishermen with Nets Pattern' A lakeside
scene of fishermen hanging their nets to dry on a tree. A
building with Palladian pillared portico stands on the shore.
There is a town and mountains in the distance. The eight lobed
rim is decorated with flowers, grapes and vine leaves The back
is unmarked but the maker is probably Robert Hamilton of Stoke
as there are marked examples recorded. Measures 25.4cm.

Condition
Good, no cracks. One
small glaze flake from the edge of the rim Typical crazing to
the glaze which has taken in staining over the years but is only
really noticeable on the back of the plate. Also a few
imperfections to the transfer print. A rare plate nonetheless.

Creamware Tea Canister.

A
very attractive late 18th.Century English creamware cylindrical
shape tea canister. Painted with floral sprays and sprigs in
polychrome enamels. The foot and shoulder of the slightly
tapering shape highlighted with moulded beading.
Measures 9.3cm. high and 7.3cm. diameter.

Condition
Excellent,
no serious damage, some minor scuffing to the edges and slight enamel
wear. Lacking it's cover.
