An English pottery underglaze blue transfer printed plate dating from the 1820's. Decorated with an attractive scene. The scene has become known as 'Fishermen with Nets Pattern' A lakeside scene of fishermen hanging their nets to dry on a tree. A building with Palladian pillared portico stands on the shore. There is a town and mountains in the distance. The eight lobed rim is decorated with flowers, grapes and vine leaves The back is unmarked but the maker is probably Robert Hamilton of Stoke as there are marked examples recorded. Measures 25.4cm. diameter.

Good, no cracks. One small glaze flake from the edge of the rim Typical crazing to the glaze which has taken in staining over the years but is only really noticeable on the back of the plate. Also a few imperfections to the transfer print. A rare plate nonetheless.
